Balance at the Autumnal Equinox feels tricky this year, but not impossible.
Hello, friends!
This time of year always feels a bit more like a new year to me, as we shift into colder weather and shorter days- it seems like a good time to reflect and set some intentions as we close down our gardens (real or symbolic) and look inward. Indeed it is recently the new year for those of Jewish faith.
To be honest, since I see time as spiral rather than linear, I tend to celebrate beginnings and endings at whim- new moons, anniversaries of remarkable events, my birthday, Chinese new year, western new year, etc. I have a circular calendar that I have developed with as many rhythms and cycles marked in it that make sense to me, and I am able to spin it so that the position of each month changes as needed.
Speaking of spirals, I was reminded recently of an insight I had ages ago when I was a bit more of a workaholic: a spinning top stays upright due to constant motion. It made SO MUCH sense in my 20s and 30s. I loved to be busy, it was very invigorating.
These days, I seek a bit more balance- and this time of year (Tuesday, to be precise) reminds us to slow down enough to find a bit of equilibrium.
Easier said than done? Well, I can help.
I am looking forward to our upcoming MotherTrees Collective session this Tuesday, September 22nd at 7pm central. In fact, the moment of the equinox is from 7:05-7:20pm central, so we will make a point to jump right into our group meditation to make the most of it. I will send the session materials to the group around 5pm central, so be sure to be signed up by that time.
Take care and I hope you have a beautiful shift into autumn this week!
